Title: Virus discovery in dogs with
encephalitis
In a metatranscriptomic study targeting viral encephalitis cases of unknown etiology in dogs, Kara and coworkers found an unexpected high-prevalence of tick-born-encephalitis virus infections. She also found evidence for the involvement of canine vesivirus and of particular strains of canine distemper virus as causative agents. This study expands the our knowledge in the sprectrum and neuropathological presentation of viral brain infections in dogs.
